We are seeking to recruit a Band 3 Rehabilitation Assistant to support the delivery of patient care in Camden. Applicants with previous experience of working in the NHS, or looking for an opportunity to train to be an Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist via the apprenticeship route are encouraged and welcomed to apply. Taking this route allows you to get paid while studying and achieving your career goals. We are flexible to consider both BSc and MSc routes once the employee has been working within CNWL for at least 1 year.

The post is based in the community, so you will be expected to visit patients in their own homes to provide care and treatment as directed by qualified clinicians. You will have the opportunity to hold a caseload of suitable patients, arrange your visits independently and work along side the qualified staff to provide therapeutic input. You will be responsible for ordering equipment and delivering items to patients from the peripheral store on the advise of qualified staff. You will work as a member of the multidisciplinary team and liaise with the team effectively to ensure coordinated approach to patient care and attend meetings as delegated by the physiotherapist or occupational therapist.
Applicants for this post may be offered employment by CNWL at our Hunter Street Health Centre base (South and Central Camden Neighbourhood hub), but candidates could be asked to work across the borough of Camden where service needs demand.

To provide physiotherapy and occupational therapy interventions as part of a specific treatment plan agreed and documented by physiotherapist/occupational therapist.
To undertake tasks in delivering patient care, rehabilitation or social care as directed by the service professionals
To manage the rehabilitation or care of patients as delegated by the physiotherapist or occupational therapists.
To work independently in the designated clinical area/patients home following an agreed treatment plan.
To instruct patients and carers, providing direction and guidance on a range of physiotherapy or occupational therapy and self care/mobility/functional activities, as directed by the physiotherapist or occupational therapist
To undertake skilled support work with patients individually or in a group with or without supervision of a physiotherapist or occupational therapist
To follow departmental and trust guidelines for obtaining consent and use diplomacy and gentle persuasion to enhance patient’s compliance in treatment
To work with family members, carers and support workers to enable them to carry out treatment programmes planned by the physiotherapist or occupational therapist
Manage own workload allocated by the physiotherapist or occupational therapist
To work as a member of the multidisciplinary team and liaise with the team effectively to ensure coordinated approach to patient care and attend meetings as delegated by the nurse, physiotherapist or occupational therapist.
Maintain comprehensive and accurate records of work undertaken, including documenting in line with Trust and service.
To attend in-service training, clinical supervision and team meetings as required
To assist physiotherapist or occupational therapist with complex patients in their own home.
Have the ability to handle patients with mobility problems, in an enabling way. This may include the use of hoists, sliding sheets, wheelchairs, mobility aids etc.
To support the provision of outpatient falls clinic alongside qualified physiotherapist
To support the running of Falls Prevention exercise / education group classes alongside qualified therapists
