About the role
Reporting to the Director, Portfolio Management and Virtual Sales, the Relationship Manager is a senior level team member who is an industry expert and leader of a portfolio of defined large, complex Business deposit clients. Special focus will be directed towards mature clients in Municipal, Utilities, Education, Healthcare industries and Nonprofit organizations.
The Relationship Manager will establish and nurture connections with valued partners, stakeholders, and advisors in retaining/attracting core banking relationships that incorporate payment and cash management solutions, merchant services, liquidity products, and the cross selling of Trade Finance, Wealth Management, RFS business clients and ATB’s Online FX platform.
As a trusted advisor and sales professional, this role manages the development and growth of a portfolio of treasury management intensive companies by partnering with Controllers, CEOs, CFOs, Treasurers and Business Owners, to understand their business requirements and present payment, cash management and investment solutions to meet their needs.
The Relationship Manager has accountability for the holistic client relationship, leadership and development of the market, and strategically managing resources to generate income and deliver organizational objectives.
Accountabilities
- You will drive business development, focusing on the corporate, education, nonprofit, and emerging market sectors.
- You meet and exceed customer needs and expectations by identifying products, services and opportunities they may not be aware of, in order to grow their organization.
- You achieve set portfolio targets by growing your existing book of business and developing a pipeline of new clients with a focus on their payment ecosystem opportunities (cash management, merchant services and investments).
- You refer customers to the appropriate partner and effectively translate Market information emphasizing its relevance to their business while growing partnerships.
- You effectively manage operational, regulatory and credit risk to ensure ATB’s risk tolerance is adhered to.
- You handle customer inquiries, concerns, and complaints expertly by resolving them in a timely manner.
- You actively participate in internal and external events, promoting ATB Financial by supporting initiatives that are important to the success of Albertans.
- You have the capacity to work collaboratively with clients in a virtual and in-person manner, and are proactive in building relationships with clients and communities you are not always physically present in.
Skills, experience & requirements
- Post secondary education in business, agriculture or related equivalent experience.
- 3-5 years previous experience in retail or corporate banking.
- Proven ability to generate new business and meet established targets.
- Demonstrated experience analyzing financial data and finding opportunities to support the payment ecosystem of clients.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the drivers of business cash flow and how to apply basic principles of effective cash flow management.
- Demonstrated success with building collaborative relationships both virtually and in person.
- Strong negotiation and relationship building skills.
- Ability to evaluate the attractiveness of new business opportunities.
- Demonstrated entrepreneurial mindset with a confident, tactful and persuasive demeanor.
- An inquisitive approach with the proven ability to connect and engage with new and existing clients with ease.
- Strong verbal and written communications skills.
- Broad based business knowledge and acumen.
- Strong connector of people and ideas – able to build relationships naturally, align interests of broad stakeholders and provide effective oversight to deliver flawless execution of complex business solutions.
- Strong leadership capabilities with a clear demonstration of being able to exert influence and collaborate effectively with multi-disciplined stakeholders from all across ATB.
- Strong time management skills including an ability to meet deadlines and establish priorities to manage multiple issues and relationship teams.
- Ability to adapt and be agile in an ever evolving environment with respect to process, market changes, etc.
