EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science or related scientific/technical discipline and 10+ years’ work experience
  • Eight (8) years of additional relevant experience may be substituted for education (18 years total)

Responsibilities:

  • The Linux/Unix Division Release Manager will participate as a team with senior leaders, team leads, technical SMEs and other release managers to document, track and fulfill the division’s Deployments, Releases, and Deliveries.
  • The Release manager, while creating their release strategy, must consider all principal tasks: to eliminate any possibility of breaking services, introducing new bugs, cause outages, or presenting conditions that would negatively impact customers or their ability to service veterans. Therefor, the Release Manager must be able to Identify issues or work with teams that identify issues and work with teams to provide and document solutions, and understand/participate in Risk analysis.
  • The release manager must have excellent communication skills, written and oral, as they will directly interface with all Linux/Unix Division’s customers, all Divisional Managers, team leads, and technical SMEs. Additionally, they will coordinate divisional releases, schedule Linux/Unix Vulnerability Mitigation Strategies, Technical Refreshes and coordination outages, and act as the division’s Customer Service Liaison.
  • The Release manager, while creating their release strategy, must consider all principal tasks: to eliminate any possibility of breaking services, introducing new bugs, cause outages, or presenting conditions that would negatively impact customers or their ability to service veterans. Therefor, the Release Manager must be able to Identify issues or work with teams that identify issues and work with teams to provide and document solutions, and understand/participate in Risk analysis.
  • The Release Manager’s schedule may have to flex schedule to match the available time of a planned release event
