Our Materials Engineering organization is looking for a talented Reliability Engineer to join their Base Plant team. You will utilize your experience to provide technical support for material selection, maintenance repair, root cause analysis investigation and corrosion control in a dynamic workplace. Minimum Requirements:
- 4 years of experience in Materials Engineering
- A University degree in Materials or Metallurgy
- Been registered as a Professional Engineer or eligible for registration with APEGA
- Experience in the oil and gas industry
- Knowledge in material wear
- Knowledge in high temperature damage mechanisms

Responsibilities:
- Support our day-to-day operations, reliability and turnarounds
- Support reliability engineering investigation into piping, static and rotating equipment incidents and reports
- Use your deep understanding of materials and provide recommendations to ensure accurate inspection results and adequate corrective actions
- Review equipment WPS and heat treatment procedures qualified by Suncor Oil Sands and those submitted by contractors
- Support the development of equipment strategies which include: materials degradation mode, mitigation strategies, condition monitoring program (CML selection, assessment), suitable repair/fabrication processes, IOWs, and asset life cycle
- Lead and participate in risk assessments, investigations and recommend short term solutions and long term plans for mitigation
- Develop/update corrosion control documents and guidelines
- Participate in corrosion hazard assessments
Location and other Key Details:
- You will work out of our Base Plant site in Fort McMurray, Alberta
- Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday
- If you reside outside of Fort McMurray, relocation of your primary residence to within 60 km of Fort McMurray is mandatory. Relocation support may be provided; we offer competitive housing assistance to eligible individuals
