Description:
The Danish Meteorological Institute (DMI) opens a 3-year full time position for a research scientist to work within Copernicus and EUMETSAT projects to maintain and develop remote sensing products of sea and sea ice surface temperatures and sea ice.
DMI is a leading European developer and producer of remote sensing products, including Sea Surface Temperature (SST) and Ice Surface Temperature (IST) products for the high latitudes. The satellite-based products are critical for understanding the effects of climate change and are important inputs to weather and ocean models. Most of the work is carried out in projects financed by EU’s Copernicus program, ESA and EUMETSAT, and the Danish National Center for Climate Research (NCKF).
Responsibilities:
- Maintain and evolve the production of SST/IST satellite products within the Copernicus Marine Service project.
- Set up automatic monitoring and validation procedures of the CMEMS products
- Maintain and update documentation about the products
- Analyze and perform reprocessing and regular updates to the products, including Ocean Monitor Indicators.
- Improve satellite SST/IST retrieval products in the high latitudes within the Ocean and Sea Ice-SAF (OSI-SAF) project.
- Assist with the Sea Ice Concentration activities within OSI-SAF
- Present results at scientific conferences and publish the results in peer-reviewed journals
