Actemium Toronto is seeking a team player who has experience as an automation specialist in systems integration or in electrical, controls and automation, or systems design in manufacturing environments, specifically food, beverage and life sciences.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or College Diploma based on an electrical, controls and automation or systems design field.
- 5+ years experience working in Industrial Automation.
- You have at least 3+ years of hands-on technical working experience with field service troubleshooting within Food, Beverage, Pharmaceutical industries.
- PLC experience with Allen-Bradley (SLC-500, PLC-5, Micro & Logix Families)
- HMI experience with FactoryTalk View ME/SE and iFIX is preferred (Ignition, Wonderware are also acceptable).
- Excellent knowledge of industrial I/O and field wiring.
- Understanding of electrical design, especially 600/480VAC, 120VAC and 24VDC power distribution and loop diagrams.
- PID loop programming and tuning.
BENEFICIAL QUALIFICATIONS
- PLC experience with Siemens (TIA Portal, S7), GE (90-30, RX3i, VersaMax) , Omron, Schneider…
- Experience with sequence-based batching and processes
- Database interface and troubleshooting
- Pharmaceutical experience and understanding of GMP/cGMP, GAMP, S88, CFR 21 Part 11.
- Experience with PlantPAx distributed control system.
- Experience with E-plan or ACAD Electrical.
- Knowledge of machine safety Z432-16 and hazardous area classifications.

Responsibilities:
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
Actemium Toronto is building a team to remotely support our customers automation challenges 24hrs a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. The team will collaborate with engineering and operational stakeholders along with key subject matter experts to mitigate/avoid high priority incidents. The team is accountable for implementation of industry best practices to bring consistent execution of process. You will play a pivotal role in Actemium Toronto’s success by demonstrating your technical and leadership skills to respond to service calls and resolve any outages within agreed service levels.
The Remote Support Automation Specialist will be responsible for managing and executing emergency service for our high priority customer (automation) incidents. The main objective will be to ensure all calls are answered and addressed on time, safely, and meeting all contractual obligations. This is a role where you and/or the service team must be available to answer emergency phone calls 24×7. Hours in this role will not conform to a standard Mon-Fri shift and will be variable week to week based solely on frequency and duration of service support.
To be successful in this role, the incumbent must be adept at working in a complex, fast paced environment by demonstrating strategic thinking, weigh risks, and apply sound judgment to choose the right solution. You can set priorities, pursue multiple threads at the same time, can accurately reflect current state and drive towards resolution.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plan and ensure all service contracts are meeting the minimum 24×7 phone coverage.
- Follow-up with Subject Matter Experts to identify ongoing customer challenges and devise a plan to mitigate those issues.
- You will help build and guide a high-performance team in executing emergency services to meet or exceed customer expectations while maintaining profitability.
- Development and maintenance of relationships with sales, marketing & other internal and external stakeholders.
- Planning and implementation of new service activities to better satisfy the customer.
- Become a dependable and integral member of each customer’s team and help them achieve their business objectives.
- Other duties as assigned.
TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE
The Automation Specialist will support the execution of industrial automation service for our various customers. The incumbent must have the desired experience and be positive and cheerful, hands on, adaptable, enjoy taking on challenges, and able to cut through the small stuff to get the job done. Travel to customer sites is expected and the incumbent must be comfortable working at sites for varying amounts of time.
