Description:

You’ll ideally have around four plus years post qualification experience and have previous exposure working within the renewable energy sector or another similar environment.

  • Have experience of drafting and negotiating complex land related contracts.
  • Possess substantial knowledge and experience in dealing with the laws and regulations of UK and/or Ireland jurisdictions, particularly with regard to the energy industry and renewable project development.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and be willing to share the cultural values of EDF Group, of honesty, integrity and cooperation.
  • Be able to work with EDF-R shareholders’ respective legal departments, request their support when necessary and report on activities on a regular basis.
  • Analyse legal issues and provide comprehensive and practical legal advice to all levels of management throughout the company, becoming a valued partner.
  • Can maintain a clear head and efficient manner throughout periods of increased pressure and are accustomed to a fast paced working environment.
  • Be detail oriented and meticulous with efficient communication skills (both written and verbal) supported by strong legal research and drafting skills

Responsibilities:

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

This role is a new onshore wind Scottish property law focused role. A key challenge for this role is to facilitate every project to achieve its objectives, while also ensuring that all legal risks are mitigated, and wider business interests are protected. You’ll also;

  • Draft and negotiate appropriate commercial positions on all required land related contracts in line with the needs of each project.
  • Ensure EDF Renewables UK and Ireland’s compliance with aspects of key project land related contracts.
  • Act as a partner to project owners, providing timely legal and strategic advice. Ensure all project deadlines are met to gain buy in.
  • Anticipate legal and business impacts of legal advice and recommendations, whilst providing commercially appropriate solutions to complex issues.
  • Identify risks/mitigations for investment committee, when responding to questions from General Counsel and to assist FID (Final Investment Decision).
  • Instruct, receive and interpret external legal advice procured from specialist lawyers and other related service to be used by non-legal specialists in commercial teams.
  • Lead specialist legal projects.
  • Contribute to the maintenance of key corporate and legal documentation, including precedent legal documents, database and physical signed contracts and EDF Group policies and procedures.
  • Share knowledge with the broader legal team and potentially supporting other technologies such as offshore wind, solar and hydrogen
