The Florence Nightingale Faculty of Nursing, Midwifery & Palliative Care (NMPC) is based in the heart of central and south London. It includes the Cicely Saunders Institute for Palliative Care, Policy & Rehabilitation, the premier Institute for Palliative Care, bringing together clinical, research and education teams.
The post is hosted at the Cicely Saunders Institute of Palliative Care, Policy & Rehabilitation. This purpose built institute, and Clinical Academic Group, brings together clinicians, researchers and service users to translate the results of research more quickly to patients and families. With over 50 members of the academic, research and professional services team the successful candidate will join a thriving research institute with many opportunities for career development. About the role
This is an exciting new opportunity to join an international research collaboration (Positive Outcomes). People living with HIV have a high burden of mental health, social and spiritual concerns, physical symptoms, and poorer health-related quality of life than the general population. Although HIV services are routinely audited, it is person-centred patient-reported outcomes that define quality care. At the Cicely Saunders Institute we have led the development of a Patient Reported Outcome Measure (PROM) for PLWH (called “POSITIVE OUTCOMES”), which has been validated using best scientific principles. We need to understand what are the best ways to implement the PROM, and what materials, are needed alongside to support successful implementation.
This mixed methods three year study will be conducted across sites in the UK and the US, and in collaboration with UK-CAB (the national body of advocates living with HIV), the British HIV association and Public Health England. We are seeking to recruit an experienced research administrator to support the successful implementation of Positive Outcomes in the UK, and collaboration across the UK and US. The position is ideally suited to someone with experience in research administration, including arranging meetings, taking minutes, working with research documents including protocols, forms and coordinating data entry and management of datasets. This is a very responsible position and the post-holder will need to manage competing deadlines and work with independence in a busy role. Candidates should be highly motivated individuals with excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
This is a full time post (35 Hours per week), and you will be offered on a fixed term contract until 31/08/2027.

About You
To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:

Essential criteria

  • Degree, preferably in relevant area
  • IT literacy to high standard (word processing and typing skills, preparation of presentations and spreadsheets) with understanding of dealing with confidential information
  • Skilled in coordinating meetings and taking minutes
  • Competent at managing data sets and data entry
  • Attention to detail
  • Good time management skills with ability to multi-task and prioritise and complete tasks within a set deadline
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team including researchers, clinicians and patient and public members
  • Commitment to diversity and inclusion in the workplace

Desirable criteria

  • Experience of working in health research setting
  • Experience of working with NHS ethical and research governance approval processes
  • Familiar with referencing software (e.g. endnote)
  • Competent at formatting research documents (protocols, research papers, posters etc)
