The Department of Forensic and Neurodevelopmental Sciences (FANS) is one of Europe’s largest research groups and bringing together leading experts in brain development and neurodevelopmental conditions. We focus on understanding developmental brain conditions to identify and then trial suitable treatments to improve outcomes into adult life.
About the role
This is an interesting and varied role working for a senior academic in the Forensic and Neurodevelopmental Science (FANS) Department as a research administrator. The main role will be to provide administrative support to Professor Andre Strydom and Dr Rory Sheehan with the research studies and clinical trials in neurodevelopmental conditions. The postholder will ensure the smooth running of the administrative processes in relation to research projects and any events when required.
The successful candidate will be a highly organised and competent individual. An experienced user of MS Office applications including Outlook, Powerpoint and Excel. The postholder will have excellent written and interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment or unsupervised.
This is a full time (35 hours per week) role, and you will be offered a fixed term contract until 31st December 2025.
About you
To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:
Essential criteria
1. Educated to A-level
2. Experience and good knowledge of MS office applications eg: Word, PowerPoint, Internet and e-mail
3. Ability to use tact, discretion and sensitivity when dealing with confidential matters eg: interacting with research participants and caregivers
4. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and working with a large network of professionals
5. Experience of monitoring budgets and finance systems
6. Experience of information management/record keeping, accuracy and attention to detail
7. Enthusiastic and highly motivated, ability to work independently and use own initiative
8. Ability to manage competing priorities effectively, work under pressure in a busy environment
Desirable criteria
1. Experience of website content management systems/digital/social media platforms
2. Knowledge of general data protection regulations and Data Protection Act
3. Experience organising conferences and large meetings
