Job Description
The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health is seeking a full-time, contract (1 year) Research Analyst to provide overall assistance in a number of research studies. The Research Analyst is part of a growing research team exploring novel approaches to addiction treatment. The successful applicant will assist in study operations, data collection, data analysis, manuscript preparation, and the preparation of protocols and Research Ethics Board (REB) submissions and regulatory submissions. The successful candidate will ensure that the research is performed according to the approved protocols. The research analyst will be directly involved in running studies including recruitment and screening of study participants, scheduling participant interviews, obtaining informed consent, and administering study questionnaires. Strong writing skills are required as well as interest in training other members of the laboratory. Additional responsibilities will include ensuring study milestone compliance and providing support on the preparation of presentations and project reports for scientific and non-scientific audiences. The successful candidate will be able to work independently but also contribute to the overall organization of the laboratory. They will support a workplace that embraces diversity, encourages teamwork, and complies with all applicable regulatory requirements. This position is primarily located at 100 Stokes Street with occasional visits to the 33 Ursula Franklin Street location. This position reports to the Clinician Scientist and Lab Director of the Addiction Pharmacology and Treatment Laboratory.
Job Requirements
The successful candidate will possess a Bachelor’s degree in neuroscience, psychology, pharmacology or a related field with a combination of one (1) year of relevant research or clinical experience. Previous experience working with human subjects and work or volunteer experience in clinical studies is required. Experience administering Standardized Clinical Interviews for DSM-IV or 5 (SCID-IV or -5) and other clinical assessment scales is an asset, and knowledge of REB submissions and Clinical Trial Applications (CTA) is an asset. Previous experience working with patients with mental health and/or drug addiction is also an asset. This position requires very strong interpersonal skills, combined with well-developed critical thinking abilities, flexibility, and initiative. Candidates require the ability to explain complex issues in plain language both verbally and in writing. Candidates will possess the ability for self-directed learning/working, as well as collaboration and teamwork. Candidates require the ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds. Bilingualism (French/English) and/or proficiency in a second language is an asset.
