WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR: The Fors Marsh Program Evaluation and Policy Analysis (PEPA) practice is seeking an experienced, intelligent, and motivated Research Analyst to contribute to evaluation projects in emergency preparedness, public safety, elections, and economic opportunity and mobility topic areas. This individual will work collaboratively with research teams, collect and analyze data, summarize findings, and support federal clients, including the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Public Administration, Political Science, Sociology, Statistics, or other social science field.
- At least one to three years of experience contributing to research and evaluation projects.
- Proficiency with at least one statistical analysis software package (e.g., STATA, R, Python, SPSS).
- Experience and strong proficiency using MS Excel for data management and analysis.
- Demonstration of strong verbal and written communications skills.
- Meticulous attention to detail.
- Applicants may be subject to a low-level government security investigation and must meet eligibility criteria for access to sensitive information.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen and consent to a full background check due to our federal contract requirements.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Graduate degree in Economics, Public Administration, Political Science, Sociology, Statistics, or other social science field.
- Experience conducting survey studies, including the development of sampling plans, survey instruments, and analytic approaches.
- Data science experience, including proficiency with machine learning and/or R modules (e.g., Shiny, Tidyverse).
- Experience with qualitative data analysis software (e.g., NVivo) preferred.
- Experience developing data visualization dashboards (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).

Responsibilities:
- Thinking creatively to help emergency preparedness clients answer the questions, “did this work”, “will this work”, and “how can it work better”.
- Contributing to the design, execution, and interpretation of research across a variety of quantitative and qualitative methodologies.
- Prepare written products research reports, presentation decks, and other project deliverables summarizing research methods, findings, and implications.
- Providing client account management to understand needs, manage expectations, and build long-term relationships.
- Managing and analyzing large datasets to create products like statistical outputs, data visualizations, and/or written descriptions of findings.
- Providing quality checks on client deliverables.
- Balance roles and responsibilities across multiple concurrent projects.
- Work as part of a team on a day-to-day basis in a fast-paced environment.
