The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) is the largest mental health and addiction teaching hospital in Canada, as well as one of the world’s leading research centres in its field. Our services are delivered to help transform the lives of people affected by mental illness and addictions. Our goal is to tailor treatment to each individual, providing patient-centered, comprehensive, coordinated care. The Krembil Centre for Neuroinformatics (KCNI) at CAMH is harnessing the power of high-performance computing to integrate and analyze the wealth of data generated about the brain. Our research is performed in an open science environment, with an emphasis on reproducible data-driven research and a patient-centric approach to accelerate identification and treatment of mental illness. A focus on global collaboration is key to transforming our understanding of mental health and its treatment. The Centre operates as an incubator for medical technologies to identify, manage and treat mental illness, while shaping policy at national and global levels.

POSITION DETAILS:

The Digital Mental Health Lab at KCNI is seeking a casual Research Analyst to provide support to a variety of digital mental health research activities across the divisions of the institution and external to CAMH. This position will involve expertise and knowledge around mental health and addictions, health informatics/digital health, patient engagement and the application, use and impact of health information technologies within a mental health setting. The position will require an experienced design background, and the ideal candidate will be capable of conducting daily tasks with minimal supervision. Primarily, a successful applicant will be responsible for supporting service design research projects, which will include literature review/desk research, data collection, data analysis, prototyping, and project reporting.
Primary responsibilities will include supporting the Principal Investigator in completing research and project related tasks, reviewing and synthesizing research literature, developing knowledge mobilization items, communicating with inter-professional knowledge users, and organizing project files, documents and reports. The candidate may also be required to assist with other administrative duties as necessary, such as setting up and running interviews and workshops, leading meetings, completing check requisitions and beyond. The individual will support a healthy workplace that embraces diversity, encourages teamwork and complies with all applicable CAMH policies, as well as all regulatory and legislative requirements. This casual position is located at the Krembil Centre for Neuroinformatics (250 College Street).
Job Requirements

The successful candidate must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Health Informatics or related field or related degree combined with 1 year of relevant research experience.

  • Previous experience with design thinking and research methodology – interviews, focus groups, workshops, design probes, and co-design.
  • Prior research or service experience with individuals and/or families with mental health and/or addictions are necessary.
  • Previous experiences developing design research outputs — journey maps, personas, stakeholder maps, etc.
  • Previous experience in project setup, research ethics, protocol development and diverse knowledge mobilization activities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, Zotero (citation managers), and Miro (whiteboarding tools) is essential.
  • The ideal candidate must demonstrate excellent interpersonal, communication (oral/written) and organizational skills, along with the ability to collaborate effectively with team members and external knowledge users.
  • The candidate will be detail-oriented, possess analytical thinking skills, and be able to exercise initiative and good judgment.
  • The ideal candidate will have the ability to multitask and produce high-quality, accurate work while meeting program deadlines.
  • Ability to liaise across an interprofessional environments both internal and external to CAMH.
  • Candidate requires the ability to work effectively in a variety of settings with individuals from diverse backgrounds. Bilingualism (French/English) and/or proficiency in a second language would be an asset.
