WHO WE ARE:

Our team, the Space Operations section, is dedicated to executing Science and Mission Operations Centers for Solar System Exploration.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Requires a Bachelors degree in Aerospace Engineering; Electrical Computer Engineering; Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering; Computer Science; Physics; Astronomy; Applied Mathematics; Engineering Physics or closely related STEM degree with relevant professional level work experience.
  • Shift work required.
  • 2+ years: Mission Operations Center experience using Horizon, EPOCH, COSMOS, MAESTRO, OASIS, ASI MAX GDS, AMMOS, Ruby, STOL, ITOS, Galaxy, or another command and control system.
  • 1 years: Experience with automated processes to include working in Linux extensively with cronjobs, bash shell scripting. Experience with python. Ability to query a database and analyze engineering data related to trending and health of the spacecraft observatory.
  • 1 years: Experience in developing standard operating procedures and contingency operations procedures for use in a MOC.
  • A valid/clear driver’s license is required.

Work assignment is in Boulder, Colorado. Must be a U.S. person (i.e., U.S. citizen, non-U.S. citizen national, lawful permanent resident, asylee, or refugee) due to ITAR work in section.

Responsibilities:

OBJECTIVES OF THIS ROLE:

  • This position would assist in the leading of the Mission Operations section which operates the CYGNSS constellation and will launch the PUNCH, QuickSounder and CubiXSS missions.
  • The individual will also assist the department in writing future mission proposals to grow the Mission Operations section.
  • Serve as a reviewer as needed for engineering reviews.

DAILY AND MONTHLY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Daily operations of up to 13 spacecraft. Check Command Uploads, Data downlink, spacecraft health and trending.
  • Perform trending and analysis of spacecraft/payload performance and assist with anomaly investigations
  • Work with Mission Planning, Software Development, Flight Controller teams in successful operation of spacecraft including building up MOC systems for new missions.
  • Monthly report generation for NASA and other customers.
  • Evaluate software updates to mission planning, data processing, command, control, and telemetry system.
  • Improve Mission Operations by evaluating deficiencies, new requirements, and participate in proposals for future missions.
  • Create and maintain requirements for ground and flight segments and assist with requirements verification and validation.
  • Support integration and test of spacecraft. This includes simulation test creation and execution, mission rehearsals, and training of personnel.
