The STREAM lab (Supporting Transformation through Research, Evidence and Action in Mental Health) is currently seeking one (1) full time Research Analyst to assist in the design, implementation, and evaluation of rapid evidence reviews and other knowledge translation products. The incumbent may conduct structured and unstructured literature searches, create data entry forms, complete data collection and analysis, conduct interviews, and contribute to written reports and other products under the supervision of the manager of knowledge mobilization. This position supports either an in-person, hybrid or fully remote arrangement.
STREAM is located at Waypoint Centre for Mental Health Care in Penetanguishene, Ontario, and is affiliated with the Waypoint Research Institute (WRI), and with Waypoint’s Partnerships and Strategy division. STREAM works closely with mental health and addictions system decision-makers in Ontario to support evidence-informed decision-making. We use rapid review methods, along with other approaches such as jurisdictional scans and key informant interviews, to address topics and challenges raised by health system partners. We synthesize our findings into knowledge translation products for decision-maker audiences.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Conducts structured literature searches and reviews of academic and grey literature
- Assist team members in identifying, developing, and implementing data processes and methodology to support various evidence synthesis, knowledge translation, and strategic projects
- Actively participates in data collection efforts, including preparing data entry forms, entering, verifying and cleaning data to maintain accuracy and integrity
- Recruits and/or interviews key informants
- Support the evaluation and interpretation of data and findings; maintain quality and accuracy of methodology throughout the analysis and reporting process
- Assists in preparing reports, articles, and presentations; participates in presentations within the Research & Academic Division and to external health system partners
- Participate in project and department meetings, contributing insights and updates on evidence synthesis and knowledge translation activities; attend conferences and other meetings as necessary
- Maintains a detailed log of all evidence synthesis activities
REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in a behavioural/life science or social science field.
- Master’s degree in a related discipline would be considered an asset
- Record of achievement in scholarly work (publications, presentations, completed research projects in work or senior undergraduate/graduate setting) required
- Minimum 1 year of relevant post-degree research training/experience involving systematic reviews and/or knowledge translation
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to prepare proposals, articles, and presentations.
- Teamwork and interpersonal skills to participate in interviews and meetings with patients, inter-professional teams, etc.
- Experience working with a variety of partners to foster collaborative relationships and achieve shared goals
- Experience with presentations, group facilitation and teamwork/development, and a history of effective working relationships at multiple levels
- Organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively and manage competing demands.
- Detail-oriented to ensure data is checked and consistently accurate.
- Results-oriented work ethic with the capability to work independently and undertake necessary tasks to meet objectives, consistently delivering high-quality and timely results
- Maintain the confidentiality of information
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to critically evaluate research and other literature
- Familiarity with research ethics principles and protocols
- Demonstrated experience in conducting or reviewing studies with qualitative and quantitative research methods and analysis
- TCPS2 Certification preferred
- Demonstrated teamwork, interpersonal, and organizational skills
- Proven ability to adapt readily to change
- Record of achievement in scholarly work (publications, presentations, completed research projects in work or senior undergraduate/graduate setting) is required
- Models and promotes core ethical practice, Waypoint Values, and reflects an optimistic and positive attitude
- Preference for proficiency in French/English language skills
