Job Description
The Laboratory of Behavioural Neuroendocrinology and the NDA at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health are seeking a casual Research Assistant 1 to join our team reporting to the lab manager and research program manager within the group.

The successful candidate will be primarily responsible for:

  • Performs basic literature searches
  • Supports the data collection and data analysis process. Assists in primary data collection.
  • Data entry skills including coding, entering and working with databases ensuring that accuracy and data quality is maintained. You will be proficient in using windows-based operating systems and word processing packages. Knowledge of basic clinical rating scales, database and software, an asset. Familiarity with statistical packages to conduct basic analyses, an asset.
  • Ensuring study records are maintained, securely stored and backed-up appropriately
  • Detail oriented with demonstrated organizational skills with the ability to produce high quality and accurate work while meeting program deadlines and requirements
  • Superior interpersonal, communication skills required along with the ability to collaborate effectively with team members in a multi-disciplinary team environment
  • Ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds

The position requires the person to work collaboratively with members of the lab and the preclinical facility and will entail participating in performing general lab duties. You will be part of a diverse and growing research team that embraces diversity and encourages teamwork. You are required to comply with all applicable regulatory and legislative requirements. This position is located at 250 College Street.
Job Requirements

The successful candidate will have:

  • Secondary school and/or specialty Courses and experience working or volunteering in a health services or academic setting, an asset
  • Experience with data entry and analysis, understanding and experience with AI model training or AI training tasks are an asset.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and statistical software for performing basic statistical analysis.
  • Excellent communication skills (oral/written) and the ability to work effectively in a dynamic clinical/research team environment with minimal supervision are essential.
  • The ability for self-directed learning/working, as well as collaboration and teamwork.

Candidates require the ability to work effectively in a wide range of settings with individuals from diverse backgrounds. High importance will be given to confidentiality of the projects. The successful candidate will need to be sensitive to keeping data and protocol details confidential.
