Description:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

  • Undergraduate degree preferred in Environmental Science or other related fields.
  • Navajo Speaking preferred.
  • Valid state driver’s license.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Experience with laboratory equipment handling
  • Good communication skills (both written and oral)
  • Knowledge of occupational hazards and applicable safety practices.
  • Knowledge of rules of the road and road signage.
  • Knowledge of the community, campus, and surrounding areas.
  • Skill in the use of cleaning tools, chemicals, cleaners, and disinfectants.
  • Skill in displaying mature, patient, and understanding behavior.
  • Ability to establish and maintain professional relationships with individuals of varying social and cultural backgrounds and with co-workers at all levels.
  • Ability to analyze situations and adopt appropriate courses of action.
  • Ability to respond to and remain calm in an emergency or crisis situations.
  • Ability to prepare routine administrative paperwork.

Responsibilities:

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Document, map, and locate livestock wells across the Navajo Nation, and water treatment locations using GIS and Remote Sensing, this will be stored in a database and used for reference and reports.
  • Collect and analyze water samples from the livestock wells under the guidance of Dr. RoyChowdhury and record data for analysis.
  • Conduct all needed paperwork for both Dr. RoyChowdhury and Mr. Chischilly, this includes, but not limited to Travel Authorization forms, Trip Reports, Purchase Requisitions, Equipment Acquisition, Price quotes and all other needed documentations as required by NTU Purchasing and Policy.
  • Partake and assist with all field sampling trips and surveys, and this will include field samples for collection, research, and training.
  • Assist Dr. RoyChowdhury as needed for field collection and field work on field sites, learn the sampling and analytical techniques, and how to calibrate the sampling instrument, assist other students in this research.
  • Clean and organize the storage closet in the classroom and the storage shed near the automotive shop on campus and organize them for ease of access and to reduce clutter.
  • Organize all supplies, materials, and equipment in a manner that makes them easily accessible.
  • Attend chapter meetings to present water project and work with the chapter officials to get resolution pass.
  • Attend conferences as suggested by Dr. RoyChowdhury to present research.
  • Organize annual N4WPP Water Symposium.
  • All other duties as assigned.
