Under the supervision of Prof Bauer, the RA will be assisting with aspects of his research project: Religious Symbolism in Japanese Pop Culture. Compiling of publication database, studying the sources to produce a list of religious objects, concepts of narratives found in these sources.
Position Summary:
Position title: Research Assistant 1
2. Brief description of duties: research on religious symbolism in Japanese popular culture. The incumbent will 1- compose a database of recent publications of Japanese manga and anime and 2- produce a list of religious objects, concepts of narratives found in these sources.
2. Name of the immediate Supervisor: Prof. Mikael Bauer
3. Status (full-time, part-time): Part-time
4. Work schedule: fixed 10 hours per weeks. Days to be determined around incumbents class schedule when hired
5. Working hours: 70 hours (approximately 10 weekly hours over 7 weeks)
6. Work location: This will be up to RA- can do the work mostly
from home with a computer and internet connection.
7. Salary information: $29.21 per hour.
8. Planned start and end dates of appointment: 101 Jan 2025 to 18 Feb 2025
Qualifications:
Incumbent must be familiar with Japanese Religions. Preference given to student who has studied Japanese and/ or East Asian religions at Bachelor’s level. And is preferably conducting research/ studying it at Master’s level.
Familiarity with Japanese language especially at reading.
