Department Overview:
The Department of Pediatrics is recruiting for a new Research Assistant 2.
Function/Duties of Position:
The Research Assistant 2 will be primary scientific support for a project studying a new class of compounds targeting Menin, known as Menin inhibitors, that have recently entered clinical trials to treat acute myeloid leukemia. We will specifically focus on how the disruption of the Menin/KMT2A interaction engages protein degradation machinery anchored on chromatin contributing to the therapeutic activity of Menin inhibitors. Strong academic background and performance in biochemistry, cell biology and molecular biology will be required to fit into the laboratory and to perform at expected level. Laboratory courses or undergraduate/graduate research experience employing the following methods will be a plus: aseptic cell culture, RNA extraction, protein biochemistry, molecular biology, bioinformatics and molecular cloning experience. We reward and acknowledge productivity and data contributions with manuscript authorship, including possibility for first-author publications in case of significant contributions.

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s in relevant field OR Associate’s AND 3 years of relevant experience OR 4 years of relevant experience OR Equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Job Related Knowledge, Skills and Abiliites:
- Molecular Biology - RNA/DNA Extraction
- General proficiency with Microsoft suite (Excel, Powerpoint, Word)
- Team player - Interacts positively and productively
- Willingness to learn newmethods and concepts and implement as recommended
- High level of attention to detail required
- Excellent organizational skills
- Performs procedures consistently, completely, in a timely manner
- Ability to maintain detailed experimental records, and cataloging of samples, data entry
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelors or Masters degree with advanced level courses in biological sciences, biochemistry or molecular biology, preferably with laboratory component.
- 0 to 3 years experience.
