JOB SUMMARY
We are seeking a full-time Research Assistant to join our team! The Suicide Prevention Research in the Community Lab (SPRCL) is a multi-disciplinary research team based in the Department of Psychiatry and affiliated with the Youth and Young Adult Depression and Suicide Prevention Research Team as well as UM?s Institute for Firearm Injury Prevention. Our team conducts community- engaged research and program evaluation in a collaborative and supportive work environment.
The research assistant will support a CDC-funded trial evaluating a firearm safe storage intervention for rural families by providing administrative and coordination support. The research assistant will work closely with the Project Manager and support the day-to-day operations of the research project. This position is located in Ann Arbor with hybrid options available. Opportunities to participate in grant writing and scholarly dissemination project are available.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS*
- High school diploma or GED
- Be able to work independently but also within a team
- Demonstrate a high level of integrity, professionalism, motivation, initiative, and problem-solving abilities
- Have excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrate excellent organizational and time management skills as well as a high level of attention to detail
- Be able to prioritize multiple tasks and meet competing deadlines
- Be comfortable working in a hybrid environment
- Possess working knowledge with standard computer software packages (e.g., Microsoft Office, Google)
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS*
- Degree in public health, psychology, or social work.
- Previous research experience in a related field.
- Familiarity with Qualtrics, REDCap, SPSS, and eResearch.

The research assistant will support all aspects of the research process including:
- Assist in the implementation of research protocols including participant recruitment/enrollment, survey development and distribution, data collection, coding/scoring, data entry, and longitudinal database management
- Track, enter, monitor, and follow-up on data collection using a variety of software systems and tracking spreadsheets
- Assist with study start up and maintenance as needed (e.g., protocol development, regulatory e-binder)
- Assist the data manager with data management and data processing
- Assist with presentations, grant writing, and scholarly/dissemination tasks (e.g., literature searches, presentations, manuscript preparation, graph/chart creation)
- Participate in stakeholder meetings with community organizations
- Assist with the completion and maintenance of IRB applications and other regulatory requirements
- Assist with quarterly and annual reports (e.g., writing, basic data analysis)
- Responsible for procurement processes
- Request, monitor, and distribute participant incentives
- Provide other administrative support as required (meeting minutes, scheduling meetings, etc)
- May serve as the point of contact for undergraduate research staff/volunteers
