Description:
The Optoelectronics Group of the Department of Physics, University of Cambridge, invites applications for a Research Associate to work on a research grant from the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council, that establishes a centre-to-centre collaboration between the Universities of Cambridge and Oxford in the UK and Princeton University in the United States. The programme is broadly in the field of advanced energy materials and the specific role is to research hybrid organic-inorganic, metal halide perovskite semiconductors. You will undertake an experimental study of mechanisms that can be used to dope perovskite semiconductors for applications in a wide range of (opto)electronic devices. They will undertake measurements of electrical transport coefficients as well as electrochemical, spectroscopic, microstructural and device studies. The project will involve a close collaboration between the research teams in the UK and Princeton University and will require you to undertake extended research visits to Princeton in USA.
You should have (or be close to obtaining) a PhD degree in Physics, Chemistry, Materials Science or related disciplines. You will be expected to participate actively in collaborations with other researchers and PhD students working on related projects, as well as national and international partners. You will have a strong background in semiconductor physics. Experience with metal halide perovskite semiconductors is desirable and not essential.
Appointment as a Research Associate is dependent on having a PhD including those who have submitted but not yet received their PhD (in which case appointment will initially be made at research assistant and amended to research associate when the PhD is awarded).
The position is available from January 2025.
Please see the attached further information file for the relevant post for more role specific details.
