Job Description:
The A2R Lab at Barnard College, Columbia University, focuses on developing and implementing open-source algorithms for dynamic motion planning and control of robots by exploiting both the mathematical structure of algorithms and the design of computational platforms. We also want to improve the accessibility of STEM education. We therefore undertake research at the intersection of Robotics and Computer Architecture, Embedded Systems, Numerical Optimization, Machine Learning, and STEM education with a particular focus on lowering the barrier to entry for high performance robotics education, software, and applications. We are seeking to hire research assistants (RAs) to support our efforts. RAs will write software, design algorithms, research new mathematical derivations, and design course materials and both programming and mathematical assignments in support of the A2R lab’s active projects. RAs will also be expected to write up papers to submit to relevant international conferences, workshops, and journals documenting their work as well as travel to and present at those events where appropriate. Current projects include: parallel numerical optimization with a focus on GPU acceleration, efficient embedded edge computing and machine learning for robotics with a focus on locomotion and manipulation, as well as open-source course development for introductory computer science, robotics, and artificial intelligence courses.
