Description:
Applications are invited for a research assistant to join two teams working in Brain Health in Ageing in the Department of Psychiatry; the Heart and Brain Group (investigating a variety of neurodegenerative disorders) led by Associate Professor Sana Suri and the NIHR Oxford Health Biomedical Research Centre Dementia theme, led by Professor Clare Mackay. The post is based in the Department of Psychiatry at the Warneford Hospital.
The post is for a fixed term (12 months).
You will support the group leaders to ensure smooth running of their research studies. This will cover a wide variety of tasks including participant recruitment, data input, checking and analysis, ethics applications, preparation of reports for funders, and activities around Patient and Public Involvement/Engagement (PPIE). The post would suit a researcher who is interested in building up research management experience.
You will have a degree in Psychology or Neuroscience or a relevant area, and an interest in brain ageing research, dementia or cognitive disorders. With excellent organisation skills you will have experience with data handling and analysis using statistical packages (e.g., SPSS, R, MATLAB) and experience of working with patients/older participants. Experience of administering neuropsychological tests would be desirable as would experience of imaging research including MRI image analysis.
