The Florence Nightingale Faculty of Nursing, Midwifery & Palliative Care (NMPC) is based in the heart of central and south London. About the role
We are really pleased to offer this excellent opportunity to join our team in the Florence Nightingale Faculty of Nursing, Midwifery & Palliative Care as a Research Assistant (Clinical Research Network) working on the AI Nurses project, funded by the Burdett Trust for Nursing. Led by Dr O’Connor, the AI Nurses network is setting up and running a clinical research network on artificial intelligence (AI) in nursing. Adopting a community-building approach the network will support and enhance engagement between the nursing and AI communities in the UK by hosting community events, funding pilot projects, and creating resources to support the use of AI across the breadth of the nursing profession.
This post will involve a number of key coordination and communication tasks including but not limited assisting with and coordinating the day-to-day activities of the AI Nurses network, contributing to key objectives and deliverables for the network, planning, supporting the application, evaluation and monitoring of seed funded projects, and contributing to a range of digital communication activities and dissemination events. The role will also hold responsibility for supporting the provision of AI education and training, coordinating patient and public involvement and engagement, and working closely with the wider team to prepare data, information and reports for a range of stakeholders.
This is a part-time post (21 Hours per week), and you will be offered a fixed term contract until 31st October 2025 or up to 12 months, whichever comes first.
About you
To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:

Essential criteria

  • Degree in digital communications, media, health, or related sciences awarded to a high level (e.g., first or 2:1)
  • Highly organised, self-motivated, ability to work independently as well as part of a team, ability to work to tight deadlines and prioritise competing workloads
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to adapt communication to the situation. Experience in contributing to high quality reports or scientific papers, demonstrating attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to multitask and prioritise and complete work within deadlines, in particular supporting the provision of online and in person education and training
  • Ability to coordinate and deliver projects, in particular facilitating the seed funding process including project applications, evaluation, and monitoring
  • Experience in monitoring feedback on and responding to queries to ensure a positive experience for all members of the AI Nurses network
  • Ability to plan, create, and schedule engaging digital content and communications for the project website, social media, and other media outlets
  • Utilise user analytics and user research to measure performance of digital communications and make improvements to the network, preparing reports which demonstrate outcomes
  • Demonstrates a commitment to promoting equality, diversity, and inclusivity for staff and students

Desirable criteria

  • MSc in relevant subject (e.g., Digital Communications, Media, or Health Sciences)
  • Experience in clinical research (quantitative, qualitative or mixed methods)
  • Experience in supporting Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement (PPIE)
