  Position Summary
  The Brickman Lab is seeking a full-time Research Assistant at the Sergievsky Center & Taub Institute for Research on Alzheimer’s Disease and the Aging Brain. The candidate will work closely with other lab members to provide neuroimaging and clinical support to research initiatives under Dr. Brickman’s purview.
  Responsibilities

The Research Assistant will primarily conduct structural neuroimaging data analysis for ongoing studies involving cognition and dementia. To this end, the responsibilities will include:

• Implement existing neuroimaging analysis protocols, refine existing neuroimaging software, manage data transfer and databasing, and work with the principal investigator and other team members in the integration of neuroimaging and behavioral data.
• As the ‘point person’ for multiple projects, the Research Assistant is accountable for meeting internal and external deadlines under limited supervision and will attend regular team meetings to present data and discuss study-related concerns.
• Coordinate efforts on a collaborative research study, including but not limited to patient screening and scheduling, MRI data acquisition, data entry, and regulatory (IRB) administration.
• As workload permits, there are opportunities for involvement in scholarly activities such as participation in seminars, case conferences, and manuscript preparation/co-authorship.
• Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned/requested.

Minimum Qualifications

• Requires a bachelor’s degree and at least 1.5 years of related experience, or an equivalent in education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Background in neuroimaging, including experience with neuroimaging software (such as SPM, FSL, MRico, or FreeSurfer), and experience in clinical research coordination.
• Prior knowledge of or interest in aging and dementia research.
• Ability to speak English and Spanish at a native level.
• Specific knowledge/experience in the analysis of white matter hyperintensities, diffusion tensor imaging metrics, and regional volumetry/cortical thickness.

Other Requirements

• Some familiarity with the use of statistical and coding software (SPSS/R, Linux, Bash, MATLAB/Python).
• Background in psychology, neuroscience, biomedical engineering, computer science, math, physics, or related field.
• Ability to prioritize assignments and work independently but also collaborate in a professional manner within the lab and with outside research teams.
• Ability to exercise sound judgement and discretion, maintain a high level of confidentiality, and proactively engage in the scientific process.
• Must be highly organized and diligent at keeping records, show enthusiasm and curiosity to learn, and possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
