SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Operates a variety of research equipment
  • Perform literature reviews
  • Assist in research experiments and summarize findings
  • Attend Project meetings
  • Assist in the preparation of progress reports
  • Sets up simple Applied Research equipment

ABOUT THE POSITION:

This is a regular part-time support staff Bargaining Unit position reporting to the Operations Manager, Research & Innovation working 7 hours per week at an hourly rate of $23.66
The successful candidate will provides support to Researchers who are conducting experiments or gathering and analyzing information and data within our Centre for Community Health and Social Innovation.

The “Advancing Healthier Communities through Transformative Social Prescribing Models for Inclusive Health and Wellness Benefits” project is a collaboration between community organizations and Lambton College. This project aims to advance social prescribing, an innovative approach to community wellness that connects primary health care to non-medical supports, addressing social determinants such as isolation and belonging. The project will work towards an evaluation of current community social prescribing efforts and the co-creation of adapted models for more effective social prescribing.
The project is seeking to hire one Research Assistant knowledgeable and passionate about addressing social determinants of health through health systems change to improve community health and wellness.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum education required - 2 year post secondary diploma in a related field
  • Minimum of 4 months practical experience
  • Strong understanding of a social determinants of health
  • Demonstrated interest in applied community-based collaborative research
  • Proficient communication, presentation, and group facilitation skills
  • Previous experience, coursework, or education in research methods and program evaluation is an asset
  • Previous experience working in health systems or social service is an asset
