Research assistant
There is a vacancy for a student research assistant at the Centre for Research on Discretion and Paternalism (DIPA) at the Department of Government, University of Bergen, Norway. The position is 20% for a fixed-term period of 9 months. Total employment as a research assistant cannot exceed two years.
The position will provide the opportunity to gain insight into scientific work and methodology by working for an experienced PI and to be a team member in an ambitious research team of young researchers. The candidate´s work task will be related to ongoing research projects in collaboration with PI for the projects Professor Marit Skivenes.
The successful candidate is expected to live and work in Bergen. Start date as soon as possible. Work place will be Christies gate 17, 5007 Bergen.
Job description:

Will include tasks related to work with:

  • Coding of legal and qualitative data material.
  • Assist in communication with judges and legal experts in the Norwegian system.
  • Administer practicalities and assist with data collection.
  • Collecting numerical and statistical material.
  • Assist with organizing conferences and seminars.
  • Conduct literature searches.
  • Practical tasks associated with research projects.

Requirements and personal characteristics:

  • Student in political science or law at MA level.
  • Good academic results.
  • Good skills in the NVivo program are a requirement.
  • Experience working on secure remote desktops and with sensitive data is positive.
  • Fluent in Norwegian, written and spoken.
  • Good administrative IT skills are necessary.
  • Ability to work systematically and results-oriented is important.
  • Good cooperation and communication skills are required.
  • Self-driven and precise.
  • High work capacity.
