Description:

POSITION SUMMARY

Applications are invited for the role of Research Assistant within CUBS/Centre for Resilience & Business Continuity.
Ireland’s Emergency Management System (EMS) is plagued by inefficiencies and a lack of integration at national, regional, and local levels, leading to vulnerabilities in responding to increasingly complex crises. The system’s reliance on manual processes, such as email-based data collection and paper-based reports, introduces delays, errors, and an inability to provide real-time updates, hampering effective decision-making. Additionally, an outdated risk management tools fail to account for evolving threats like cyberattacks, and extreme weather, leaving the system unprepared for future challenges.
The P²REDICT project directly addresses these challenges by developing a digital platform that automates data collection, enabling real-time risk updates and faster decision-making. It integrates digital twins for risk modelling, allowing authorities to simulate crises, rehearse responses, and refine strategies. The platform enhances communication across all government levels, improving coordination and response efficiency. AI-driven analytics will also help anticipate future threats and learn by examining global disaster experiences. By eliminating inefficiencies, enabling proactive planning, and fostering better collaboration, P²REDICT will significantly improve Ireland’s preparedness, reduce response times, and
ensure better protection for vulnerable populations during crises.
