Requirements
As a top academic health and science center in the United States,
Georgetown University Medical Center
seeks to provide, in a synergistic fashion, excellence in education — training physicians, nurses and other health care professionals, as well as biomedical scientists — and cutting-edge interdisciplinary research collaboration, enhancing our basic science and translational biomedical research capacity in order to improve human health. Emphasizing service, we are dedicated to the Catholic, Jesuit principle of cura personalis — “care of the whole person.” Our partnerships with organizations in the region strengthen our work and expand its reach.
The Research Assistant (RA) directly supports primary care and community-based clinical research studies funded by PCORI. The RA will work on a research team composed of the Principal Investigator (PI), Project Coordinators (PC), Research Assistant, and student research assistants. Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Procure and manage inventory of research and laboratory supplies.
- Handle substantial local travel to area clinical practices and participant visits will be needed.
- Track travel and related activities to be expensed to grant for reimbursement purposes.
- Unless there are extenuating circumstances, use the study car for travel to community-based sites, complying with GU policies for such anticipated expenses.
Work Interactions
The activities performed by the RA will directly support the progress of the projects. The Research Assistant may need training on various GU applications, such as Research Electronic Data Capture (REDCap), to record project activities. The RA will report to the PC and PI on all activities and attend project meetings.
