Description:
This position is suitable for a talented neuroscientist with experience in MRI data analysis, who wishes to join a growing team to investigate cerebrovascular physiology using MRI. The post-holder will support an ongoing project considering the impact of a drug targeting vascular endothelial cells. MRI measures of cerebral blood flow (CBF), neurovascular coupling, and blood-brain barrier (BBB) permeability will be used to test the impact of the treatment in patients with cerebral small vessel disease. BBB damage and reduced CBF can precede neurodegeneration, hence early vascular preventative therapy has the potential to slow progression or delay onset.
The project is led by Prof. Paul Matthews at Imperial College London with MRI design, implementation and analysis by the University of Manchester, led by Prof. Laura Parkes. The project is funded by the UK Dementia Research Institute.
