The School of Life Course & Population Sciences is one of five Schools that make up the Faculty of Life Sciences & Medicine at King’s College London. The School unites over 400 experts in women and children’s health, nutritional sciences, population health and the molecular genetics of human disease. Based across King’s Denmark Hill, Guy’s, St Thomas’ and Waterloo campuses, our academic programme of teaching, research and clinical practice is embedded across five Departments.
About the role
This research will focus on a project aimed at testing new therapeutic drugs and targets in glaucoma. The post-holder will perform in vitro cell-based assays, such as contraction, gene expression and toxicity tests, and assist in animal in vivo studies. Responsibilities include teaching/supervision of other researchers and managing the lab (ordering, managing tissue samples and equipment, receipt and transfer of materials).
This is a full time post (35 hours per week), and you will be offered an fixed term contract until 31st January 2027.
About You
To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:

Essential criteria

  • MSc in Biological Science or similar
  • Research experience in cell culture and molecular biology
  • Excellent data analysis skills
  • Excellent communication and research dissemination skills
  • Excellent time and resource management
  • Committed to equality, diversity and inclusion, actively addressing areas of potential bias

Desirable criteria

  • Research experience in glaucoma or fibrosis
  • Publications in peer reviewed journals
