Description:

We are looking for an enthusiastic Research Assistant to join the team of Dr Nordine Helassa on a BBSRC ‘Transformative Research Technologies’ funded project.
Genetically encoded sensors for tracking neurotransmitters can provide important information on neurotransmission and signal processing. However, there is no available biosensor to monitor glycine homeostasis and therefore information on inhibitory neurotransmission remains limited.
This project uses a combination of molecular design, protein engineering and protein biochemistry to develop glycine indicators with high spatial and temporal precision. It will offer an important way of gaining understanding of glycinergic transmission.
You should have a degree in biological, biophysical or biomedical sciences subject.
Experience working in protein expression/purification or confocal microscopy would be advantageous, but in-house training can be provided.
This is a fixed term post available for 18 months, working hours 35 hours per week.
Commitment to Diversity
The University of Liverpool is committed to enhancing workforce diversity. We actively seek to attract, develop, and retain colleagues with diverse backgrounds and perspectives. We welcome applications from all genders/gender identities, Black, Asian, or Minority Ethnic backgrounds, individuals living with a disability, and members of the LGBTQIA+ community
