Description:

The Liu Lab and the Lab for Child Development (LCD) jointly seek a Research Assistant to lead recruitment initiatives and activities across both labs. Both labs study the origins of human knowledge. The Liu Lab (www.liulaboratory.org) is broadly interested in the developmental and neural origins of psychological and physical reasoning and the Lab for Child Development (https://labforchilddevelopment.com) is broadly interested in the origins of learning, curiosity, and cognition. Both labs maintain the core values of (1) scientific transparency and rigor, (2) community and support, and (3) increasing diversity in STEM.
The Research Assistant will leverage their experience with recruitment strategies and knowledge of best practices in marketing to create effective campaigns to recruit participants to the labs. This is a casual/on-call position (approximately 20 hours per week), subject to the availability of funds.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related discipline.
  • Additional related experience may substitute for required education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Coursework in Psychology, Cognitive Science, or Neuroscience.
  • Experience working with human subject’s research, including with vulnerable populations (e.g. children)
  • Experience working with families and children.
  • Ability to work and communicate effectively with individuals from different cultures and backgrounds.
  • Ability to work effectively with a large team.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Establish and test recruitment strategies; evaluate the success of various recruitment campaigns.
  • Create and launch original social media posts utilizing design software (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, or Canva)
  • Create and circulate original print materials for participant recruitment (pamphlets, posters)
  • Manage paid social media ads for enrollment marketing and brand awareness.
  • Develop and monitor reports on recruitment progress.
  • Serve as primary point of contact for study participants, which may include scheduling, confirming appointments, and directing participants to various locations on campus.
  • Update and maintain the LCD website and social media pages.
  • Maintain the LCD participant database.
  • Train members of LCD on best recruitment practices.
