Description:
Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for a full-time, fixed term position as a Research Assistant with Systems Biochemistry Group at the Digital Metabolic Twin Centre, University of Galway, Ireland.
This position is funded by an EU funded project and is available from 1st December 2024 for 24 months, with the possibility of further extension.
The EU funded project, Reconstruction and Computational Modelling for Inherited Metabolic Diseases (Recon4IMD), is a large-scale collaborative research project aimed at revolutionising the diagnosis and treatment of inherited metabolic disorders (IMDs). IMDs are a group of rare genetic conditions that affect metabolism, and diagnosing these disorders often requires complex genomic and clinical data integration. Recon4IMD brings together leading European institutions and clinical sites to: Create an integrated clinical-genomics infrastructure for IMDs, Develop new tools and platforms to enhance diagnostics, research, and patient care, and Harmonize data across clinical sites to enable more effective analysis of IMDs. Recon4IMD is a flagship project at the recently founded Digital Metabolic Twin Centre at the University of Galway, Ireland. The Digital Metabolic Twin Centre hosts an international, multidisciplinary team of researchers and is dedicated to advance precision medicine through computational modelling. Our focus lies on creating a Digital Metabolic Twin for each person, based on their own data, to provide bespoke health insights and inform health decisions.
Salary: Research Assistant scale €31,962 - €41,943 per annum, (subject to the project’s funding limitations), and pro rata for shorter and/or part-time contracts.
