Description:
Within the framework of the research project “In-vivo dysregulation of cerebral non-OXPHOS metabolism as a mitochondrial endophenotype in patients with Parkinson’s disease (NOXPHOS)” funded by the Else Kröner-Fresenius Foundation, the position of Research Assistant/PhD Candidate (m/f/d). The position is initially limited to three years.
The research project aims to dynamically and in vivo investigate the role of non-OXPHOS metabolism, particularly glycolysis, and the tricarboxylic acid cycle, in patients with Parkinson’s disease. Using 13C-magnetic resonance spectroscopy (13C-MRSI) and the administration of 13C-labeled glucose, the metabolic processes in patients with Parkinson’s disease will be analyzed and modeled in comparison to healthy controls. The findings are intended to contribute to the development of new biomarkers and therapeutic approaches targeting metabolic disturbances in this disorder.
YOUR QUALIFIKATIONS:
- Completed university degree (M.Sc. or equivalent) in natural sciences, preferably in biophysics, medical physics, neuroscience, or related fields.
- Experience with magnetic resonance spectroscopy or related imaging techniques and data analysis (e.g., Matlab/Python applications) is desirable but not mandatory.
- Biochemical and cell biological knowledge is also desirable.
- Excellent English skills, both written and spoken.
- Ability for interdisciplinary collaboration and strong team skills.
Please send us your complete application, including a letter of motivation (maximum two pages), CV (with list of publications if applicable), transcripts of previous university degrees (B.Sc./M.Sc.) and the names of two references by 14.08.2024, quoting the reference number 24778.
