POSITION SUMMARY
Research Assistant provides technical support to Applied Research projects. The technical requirements vary based on the nature of the research project, grant requirements, and industry partner. The Research Assistant will work with Researchers, Project Managers, Professors, Principal Investigators, and students to execute applied research projects. In particular, the Research Assistant will provide close guidance and direction to student researchers to bridge classroom learning concepts to application. The Research Assistant performs their duties under the guidance of the Researcher or Project Manager.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
A minimum of a 3-year Diploma/Degree in Mechanical Technician, Instrumentation and Control Engineering Technologist, Energy Systems Engineering Technologist, Civil Engineering Technologist, Biotechnology Advanced.
A minimum of 1 year of experience in developing engineering drawings/experimental procedures. Experience in working in a collaborative multidisciplinary team environment. Hands-on laboratory or prototyping/experimental experience. Experience in analyzing large data sets and determining trends.
OTHER REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Knowledgeable on a variety of measurement tools and sensors used in the chosen field of study

- Verbal and written communication skills
PHYSICAL/WORK ENVIRONMENT ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:
The successful incumbent must have the ability to report to the work location and work temporarily from a remote location with reliable internet access, as approved by the College and in accordance with the college’s Telework Policy.
