JOB SUMMARY

As a member of the Research and Best Practice Implementation team, the Research Assistant position supports the team by working with Research Associates and other team members from the Data Services, Clinical, and Persons with Lived Experience (PLEX) Teams. The research and best practice activities contribute to the development of SCI evidence and include stakeholder engagement, epidemiology, study design, basic statistical services, and knowledge sharing. This temporary part-time student role and in a hybrid model. The term will end on March 31, 2025.

JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Conduct literature searches and obtain relevant journal articles
  • Review the literature and synthesize the evidence
  • Schedule, organize and participate in project team meetings
  • Develop research documents (protocols, spreadsheets, reports)
  • Provide support in manuscript preparation and submission
  • Prepare scientific abstracts and conference presentations
  • Develop communication material of research activities for knowledge sharing
  • Work collaboratively with Praxis Teams (e.g. Research, Data Services) to execute tasks
  • Perform other research or administrative duties as required

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education: Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program in Life Sciences or a related field
  • Experience: Any experience with the job duties described above and/or SCI would be an asset
  • Skills/Behaviours:
  • Familiar with literature search method (PICO preferred)
  • Ability to synthesize evidence from literature review into useful information
  • Ability to prepare clear, concise, and professional-looking reports
  • Demonstrated skills in scientific writing as well as versatile lay summaries
  • Excellent organizational skills in storage and documentation systems (e.g. folder, file name nomenclature)
  • Adhere to good research practices
  • Ability to articulate and communicate clearly and professionally
  • Interpersonal skills and ability to work with discretion, tact, diplomacy individual and as part of a team
  • Intermediate or advance level with MS OfficeAn equivalent combination of education, experience and skills/behaviors will be considered.
