Description
The Department of Surgery in the Cumming School of Medicine invites applications for a Research Assistant. This Part-time Fixed Term position is for approximately 4 months (based on length of grant funding), with the possibility of extension.
The Research Assistant’s primary role involves supporting research and evaluation activities of the Rapid Access Care (RAC) Model Evaluation Team.
Workdays will vary in length and may include some evening and weekend hours.
Reporting to the Principal Investigator.

Summary of Key Responsibilities (job functions include but are not limited to):

  • Coordinate recruitment activities, in consultation with RAC team
  • Prepare recruitment materials
  • Coordinate interviews and interview schedules of the interviewing associates
  • Support recruitment activities at study sites
  • Respond to inquiries about the study and provide participants with information about the study and study involvement
  • Consent participants into the study, following appropriate ethical protocols
  • Maintain and update master patient files with patient information (contact information, interview completion, demographic information)
  • Support ethics processes related to approvals and annual updates
  • Undertake literature reviews to support report preparations
  • Be responsive to team communications and requests
  • Generate PowerPoint presentations on behalf of Principal Investigator and research team, to be used when presenting to various internal and external stakeholders
  • Assist with presenting as required
  • Generate various reports as required by Principal Investigator and research team. May require presentation of reports to various stakeholders
  • Compile tables, charts, graphs, and summarized statistics for integration in research papers and reports. This includes materials for presentation and publication
  • Process data using statistical software to conduct basic analyses of trends in support of the research project
  • Collect, consolidate, cross-tabulate and format data from various sources to prepare draft reports
  • Assist in collection and tracking of data from monitored use of services and provide information to various internal and external stakeholders

QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree at a minimum
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office and applications
  • Experience in conducting literature reviews and related methods
  • Well-developed communication skills (written and oral)
  • Open to learning and skill development
  • Experience with the MSK health system in Alberta
  • Working knowledge (clinical, academic, and/or patient-experience) of the project-specific bone and joint health conditions
  • Research experience
  • Completion of tri-council ethics training (e.g. TCPS 2.0)
  • Completion of equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) training/modules/course
  • Knowledge of research ethics requirements and processes (for human studies)
