POSITION SUMMARY
Applications are invited for the role of Research Assistant – Theoretical within the School of Computer Science & Information Technology and Insight SFI Research Centre for Data Analytics.
The Insight SFI Research Centre for Data Analytics at University College Cork (UCC) is looking for a highly motivated Research Assistant. The researcher will be employed on a modular and controllable artificial intelligence project. The successful candidate will be working with a team of researchers on a range of topics, including deep learning and large language models for multiple domains. It is envisaged that the candidate will be located on University College Cork’s campus.
The candidate should hold a bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering or related discipline, with a good track record of theoretical and technical work. Ideally, they will have experience in artificial intelligence or related areas such as machine learning and AI systems. Candidates with a background in other areas such as the application of data analytics in healthcare and biomedical applications will also be considered. Experience with multidisciplinary teams is an asset.
The position is for 13 months. The successful candidate will be appointed at Research Assistant level depending on their experience and qualifications. A budget for travel, equipment, publications and other research expenses is available as part of the project.
The research group leading this project is championed by Dr Harry Nguyen in UCC aimed at establishing a reliable and trustworthy AI systems for multiple domains, including healthcare and sustainability. The hired researcher will be encouraged to collaborate with other members of the group both inside and outside of UCC.
The group is part of the School of Computer Science and Information Technology, and the modular and controllable AI project is hosted by Dr Harry Nguyen at the Insight Centre for Data Analytics.

Post Duration: 13 Months
Salary: €31,462 - €41,443 per annum, IUA Salary Scale.
