Job description: The Department of Pediatrics at the College of Medicine and Health Sciences, United Arab Emirates University (UAEU), is seeking an exceptionally motivated and committed research assistant to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in advancing our viral infection animal study program, contributing to ground-breaking research designed to deepen our understanding of viral infections and their far-reaching impacts on human health. Key Responsibilities: • Provide daily care and monitoring of laboratory mice, ensuring their health and well-being. • Perform viral infection procedures and other experimental techniques under the supervision of senior researchers. • Collect, process, and analyze biological samples with accuracy and attention to detail. • Maintain comprehensive and accurate records of experiments, data, and findings. • Ensure strict adherence to laboratory safety protocols and institutional animal care guidelines. • Actively participate in team meetings, contributing to the planning and development of research activities. • Assist in preparing research reports, manuscripts, and presentations for dissemination of results. • Perform additional duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor to support research objectives.

Minimum Qualification

• A Master’s degree in Biology, Biomedical Sciences, or a closely related field is required.

Expected Skills

• Prior experience working with laboratory animals, particularly mice, is strongly preferred. • In-depth knowledge of virology, molecular biology, and/or immunology is essential. • Proficiency in key laboratory techniques, including PCR, ELISA, and cell culture, is required. • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a team setting. • Demonstrated ability to work independently while managing multiple tasks and responsibilities efficiently.
