POSITION SUMMARY

Applications are invited for the role of Research Assistant (Public Patient Involvement Coordinator) within the School of Nursing and Midwifery.
The Maximise support for breastfeeding for sustainable population health and wellbeing: Integrated knowledge translation approach (MaxSBF)’ project is funded by the Health Research Board. Breastfeeding is best for health and well-being but rates in Ireland are low, and women are not receiving the support they need. The research aims to identify how breastfeeding can be normalised and promoted in Ireland, using a specific research methodology known as Integrated Knowledge Translation (IKT) involving knowledge users. A key component of this research programme is the inclusion of Public Patient Involvement (PPI) specifically PPI participants and PPI knowledge users. For PPI participants, their involvement is providing their perspective, opinions, or lived experiences to inform the research. For PPI knowledge users, the focus is on co-creating research materials, on applying research findings to improve real-world practices and policies and wide dissemination of the research.
The PPI Coordinator will oversee and drive the active involvement of both PPI participants and knowledge users throughout the research programme. This role involves leading the recruitment of participants, managing all administrative aspects of PPI engagement, and organizing and directing workshops and discussions. Additionally, the Coordinator will ensure participants are well-informed, engaged, and empowered to contribute meaningfully at every stage of the research process. Acting as the primary liaison, the Coordinator will play a pivotal role in integrating PPI perspectives into the programme to enhance its overall impact and success.

Post Duration: 24 Months
Salary: €31,462 - €41,443 per annum, pro rata 0.5 FTE
