ABOUT YOU

We are looking for an individual who has experience in neuroscience and gene therapy. Experience with in-vivo work (hold an Home office personal licence for animal research). Experience with tissue analysis (qPCR, western blot and immunohistochemistry) and gene therapy vector production are essential. Excellent interpersonal skills and flexible attitude to shift work are essential as well as the ability to work unsupervised on occasion.
Applicants should hold a MSc/MRes in neuroscience or gene therapy.
For the right candidate there will be an opportunity to gain new skills in translational gene therapy project, writing project reports for funder, teaching and research paper writing.
Appointment at Grade 6.

The salary for this role is UCL Grade 6B £38,357 per annum inclusive of London Allowance.

Responsibilities:

The role is to develop a pre-clinical gene therapy treatment for rare epilepsy, and the duties and responsibilities involve evaluating efficacy of viral-gene therapies in a transgenic mouse model of neurological disease through stereotactic administration of treatment, behavioural assessment and tissues analysis.
The candidate will engage on a programme of post-doctoral research full-time until 30/06/2028.
The candidate will be expected to participate in project report writing, teaching at postgraduate levels and carry out other forms of public presentation.
Applicants should have a higher academic degree e.g. MSc/MRes and evidence of an equivalent level of attainment in research publications.
This role is an open-ended contract with an initial funding end date of 30/08/2028
