The research program for plant disease on lowbush blueberries seeks applicants for a full-time, soft-money funded Research Assistant position to conduct and support lowbush blueberry research in the lab and in the field. External funding is currently available for this position through September 30, 2025. Tasks include implementing and documenting the results of laboratory, field, and greenhouse experiments. Research involves treatment application, data collection, tabulation, analysis, and summary. This is a full-time, 12-month position contingent on external funding. Typical hiring range for this position is $37,000 to $39,000 commensurate with qualifications and experience.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Typically has the education associated with a B.S. or B.A. degree in a related area of science.
• Ability to travel, normally requiring a driver’s license.
• Ability to frequently lift 30 pounds and carry up to 200 feet.
• Experience working on field studies. Ability to collect research samples in appropriate field conditions under sometimes adverse weather conditions.
• Knowledge of and ability to apply experimental and registered pesticides. Certification as a Commercial Pesticide Applicators License for category 10 and 1B is required within 2 months of hire.
• Demonstrated excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to exercise independent judgment and initiative and manage multiple tasks and deadlines
