DEPARTMENT SUMMARY
The Institute for Translational Research is devoted to bringing novel diagnostics and interventions to patients and families suffering from neurodegenerative diseases, fostering translational research in neurodegenerative diseases at UNTHSC, and Create solutions for a healthier community. Our team spans basic “bench-top” science, clinical research, community-based research and clinical trials. Our translational approach is intended to foster discovery and expedite those discoveries toward the benefit of those suffering from brain disease. A particular emphasis of ITR is the development of personalized (or person-focused) medicine for Alzheimer’s disease.
POSITION OVERVIEW
This position will support the ITR studies, staff and ITR participants and will assist with participants during the ITR studies as well as research administrative and scheduling duties.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Knowledge and skills in using a range of software programs including but not limited to Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), SPSS, STATA.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to organize and prioritize tasks.
- Ability to communicate effectively; perform other administrative/clerical tasks.
- Aptitude in general laboratory procedures, techniques, and documentation.
- Willingness to acquire competence in new techniques.

Responsibilities:
- Scheduling of participants into various research studies and clinical trials
- Pay participants for their participation in the study and maintain payment logs
- Preparing and maintaining reports of participant throughput
- Greet visitors and callers and directing them to the appropriate persons according to their needs
- Liaison and contact for ITR Imaging Center for all MRI PET Scans and appointment changes
- Managing New/canceling/pending appointments
- Translate English to Spanish for Nurse Practitioner when needed
- Interview, Neuropsychological Testing, Blood draw, MRI, Medical Exam for each participant
- Maintain participant tracking and reporting system for no shows, ratio, and source of call/referral
