KEY REQUIREMENTS:

The candidate needs to have extensive experience in:

  • The design, to create CAD models and prepare them for manufacture, including ‘Magics’ operations.
  • The operation and maintenance of Additive Manufacturing equipment using metal powders, esp. SLM machines.
  • Measuring physical and mechanical properties of the manufactured materials and structures.
  • The characterisation of physical, chemical, microstructural, metallurgical properties utilising techniques such as (for example) optical microscopy, SEM, DSC, XRD, XPS, micro-CT, etc)
  • Gathering results and presenting data to others as part of regular meetings and reviews.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Responsibilities:

We are looking for an engineer or scientist with proven experience in Additive Manufacturing, in particular SLM, SLS or EBM, using metals (esp. titanium and its alloys) to conduct research in the areas of physical manufacture, characterisation and validation of multifunctional materials and structures. We welcome manufacturers with industrial experience as well as researchers with a background in metallurgy to develop new scientific understanding of materials processing and manufacturing techniques.
