Description:

Accelerate Diagnostics is seeking a motivated Research Associate who would like to gain hands-on experience in a microbiology lab, developing antimicrobial susceptibility test (AST) assays. The successful candidate will be passionate, well-organized, detail-oriented, and work independently as well as in a team environment. The candidate will spend approximately 70% of their time on basic microbiology techniques and the remaining 30% on assisting technical staff with routine lab and office work including equipment maintenance and cleaning, data entry and data management.
This position is for our second shift (11:00am-8:00pm), Monday-Friday.

Responsibilities:

  • Comply with lab safety
  • Assist in study execution and experimentation for assay research and development
  • Execute experiments on instruments(e.g., Accelerate Diagnostics systems, commercial blood culture systems, MALDI systems or other susceptibility systems) after proper training and guidance
  • Execute conventional bacterial culture-based test methods using molecular, biochemical or microbiology approach after trainings and guidance
  • With detailed direction from Team Lead or scientists, prep and execute bacterial isolation using various methods, sample contriving and seeding, and routine antimicrobial reference testing
  • Prepare buffers, growth media, other reagents, and antibiotic stocks as required for experimentation.
  • Assists in all aspects of lab workflow, record keeping, quality control testing
  • Maintain a clean working environment
  • Receives direction from Team Lead/scientists for daily activities and assignments
  • Work with Scientists and other Research Associates to execute experiments, troubleshoot and develop solutions when problems occur, conduct analyses and record data

Formal Education / Relevant Experience:
