Description:
MAIN FUNCTION
To conduct research within the field of adult pancreas tissue homeostasis and pancreatic cancer initiation and contribute to the overall research performance of the School and University, carrying out research leading to the publishing of high-quality research. To pursue excellence in research and to inspire others to do the same.
Responsibilities:
Research
- To conduct research into understanding the molecular mechanisms and cell biology underpinning tissue health in adult pancreas tissues, and to decipher dysregulation of these mechanisms during cancer initiation.
- To develop research objectives and proposals for own or joint research including research funding proposals
- To work with all team members and deliver on all objectives outlined in funded project and in a timely manner.
- To manage and be responsible for mouse colonies.
- To communicate and disseminate research findings to project team (PI, Co-I and Team members) through regular meetings.
- To contribute to the overall research performance of the School and University by the production of measurable outputs including publishing in international, high impact academic journals, present data at national/international conferences and local meetings as required.
- To assist in the supervision and training of undergraduate and postgraduate students in research skills/techniques.
- To review and synthesise existing research literature around the subject area.
- To participate in School research activities.
- To build and create networks both internally and externally to the university, to influence decisions, explore future research requirements, and share research ideas for the benefit of current research projects, and to contribute to new project development.
Other
- To undergo personal and professional development that is appropriate to, and which will enhance performance, including spatial transcriptomic and RNA sequencing data analysis training.
- To participate in School administration and activities to promote the School and its work to the wider University and the outside world
- To undertake administrative tasks associated with the research project, including the planning and organisation of the project and the implementation of procedures required to ensure accurate and timely reporting.
- Any other duties not included above, but consistent with the role.
