Research Associate, Centre for Equitable Housing: 0.6FTE, flexible working conditions, Melbourne.
Per Capita is seeking a Research Associate for the Centre for Equitable Housing (CEH), based in Melbourne.
This is a great opportunity for a graduate or early career researcher to join a dedicated research and policy centre within Per Capita, focussed on developing policy to fix Australia’s broken housing system and creating a future in which everyone has a secure, safe, comfortable and affordable home.
About the role
- Work closely with the Director of the Centre for Equitable Housing to research and develop economic and social policy solutions for all levels of government to support a more equitable housing system.
- Support a wide range of high-impact program evaluation and housing needs projects for a diverse range of audiences and clients.

We are seeking an individual with a good understanding of current issues in the housing system and a strong interest in a career in applied policy research and development. The following attributes, skills and experiences would make you an excellent candidate.
About you
- An undergraduate qualification in planning, economics, public policy, sociology or a related field;
- Excellent research and qualitative analysis skills;
- Strong analytical and numerical capabilities;
- Excellent communications skills, with demonstrated writing ability, and a willingness to develop media presentation and public speaking skills;
- A willingness to contribute to other research areas within the Per Capita team as necessary;
- The ability to work with complex stakeholder groups and perform under pressure in a sometimes politically sensitive and public-facing environment.
