Do you have research specialisation in the literature and culture of the nineteenth century? We are looking to appoint a Research Associate/Fellow in Literature to work in our team in the School of English at the University of Nottingham.
You will be specialised in at least two of the following areas of nineteenth-century studies: women’s writing, letters, periodicals, literature of British India. Your experience of working with manuscripts and transcription of texts would be particularly welcome. You will have or be near to submitting a PhD (or equivalent) in a relevant area of literature, as well as having evidence of your ability to carry out and disseminate textual and literary research.

You would join us on a fixed-term, part time research contract for 18 hours per week (hours of work by arrangement) from 14th October 2024 to 30th June 2025.
Requests for secondment from internal candidates may be considered on the basis that prior agreement has been sought from both your current line manager and the manager of your substantive post, if you are already undertaking a secondment role.

Selection Process
Shortlisting is anonymous based on criteria-based questions. Each member of the shortlisting panel will give a mark for each of your individual answers to create an aggregate score. Your answers will be scored against the essential criteria listed in the person specification. Accordingly, we encourage you to think about how your answers can be tailored to meet these criteria. Our commitment to anonymous shortlisting means that we are not asking you to submit your CV. Therefore, we encourage you to take your time writing your answers, ensuring you use clear language, maintain an accessible style, and provide tangible examples to support your answers without compromising your anonymity. We expect each answer to be approximately 400-500 words in length.
The selection process will include a presentation of research to members of an interview panel and a formal interview.
