Description:

The Cardona Lab are pleased to invite applications for the position of Research Associate in the Experimental and Comparative Connectomics Laboratory. The primary purpose of the role is to support the research of Dr Albert Cardona, whose lab is interested in the neural circuit basis of behaviour. The post holder will have a neuroscience background, with a Ph.D. in Neurobiology or related discipline, with extensive experience with patch-clamp recording of Drosophila larval neurons, ideally in mushroom body output neurons and dopaminergic neurons. The ideal candidate will also have ample experience with optogenetics and functional connectivity mapping in Drosophila, including experience with Drosophila genetics and its driver lines approach to monitoring and manipulating neuronal activity in individual neurons, as well as excellent data analysis skills, and experience with learning and memory paradigms in Drosophila.
Fixed Term: the funds for this post are available until 31 December 2025.
