Description:

Carnegie Mellon University’s Robotics Institute is searching for a Research Associate I to join their team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who thrives in an interesting and challenging work environment.
We are seeking creative and upbeat Research Associate I that will assist in the development and execution of research projects including experiment design, analysis of data collected and writing up experiment results.

Responsibilities:

  • Compose research papers, progress reports, and documentation (10%).
  • Develop a full stack IoT framework for connected robotic devices (30%).
  • Identifies problems and obstacles to progress; develops strategies to solve problems.
  • May program software in support of job functions. Attends project meetings.
  • Perform research and development on various robotics projects in the Biorobotics Lab at Carnegie Mellon University. Design, develop and testing of mechatronics and embedded system hardware and software for robotic medical and industrial applications (50%).
  • Performs research experiments following experimental protocol and procedures. Researches and documents information by compiling and maintaining accurate and detailed records.
  • Summarizes statistical information for analysis, examination or presentation; writes technical reports. May build and validate quantitative models.
  • Uses a variety of software packages to input, manipulate, collect and record results or observations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 1-3 years of data collection and analysis experience
  • 1-3 years of research experience
  • 1-3 years of research lab experience
  • 1-3 years of research methodology experience
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong problem-solving and reasoning skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Required Skillsets: proficient in C++, C#, Java and Python

Training:

  • OSHA Hazardous Materials Safety Training
